Frequently asked questions

What is PCOS in Filipino?

PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome, now called PMOS) is a common hormone condition. In Taglish: isang kondisyon sa hormones na nagdudulot ng irregular na regla, tagyawat, pagtubo ng buhok sa mukha at hirap mabuntis. It is common and manageable.

Magkano ang PCOS check up?

A basic check (OB consult plus ultrasound) is the cheapest route, and a full guideline workup with OGTT, lipids and hormones costs more. See our cost guide for every peso figure with sources.

Saan ako magsisimula, OB or endo?

Start with an OB-GYN. The guideline asks for a 75 g OGTT and lipid profile at diagnosis. If those come back abnormal, an endocrinologist is a good next step.

May PCOS ako, pwede pa ba mabuntis?

Yes, most people with PCOS who want a baby can be helped. Letrozole is the first-line medicine to help ovulation (2023 Guideline, Rec 5.3.1).

Is PMOS the same as PCOS?

Yes. PMOS (polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome) is the new name for PCOS, announced in The Lancet on 12 May 2026. It is the same condition with the same diagnosis and the same treatments. Both names will be used until the 2028 International Guideline update.
