Medical review: how we check our PCOS pages

Health information should be checked by a doctor who treats PCOS (now called PMOS) in the Philippines. Here is how our review works, and where we are today.

Editorially reviewed on October 29, 2026. [TODO: medical reviewer] How we review

Where we are today

No medical reviewer has signed yet

We have not yet appointed a medical reviewer. Every page shows “Editorially reviewed on [date]” and [TODO: medical reviewer] until a real Filipino doctor has reviewed and signed it. We will never show a reviewer name, photo or licence number before that happens.

Until then, our pages are written from the 2023 International Evidence-based Guideline and other cited sources, following our editorial policy.

Who can review

  • First reviewers: a Filipino OB-GYN or endocrinologist with an active PRC licence, who sees patients with PCOS. Ideally one of each: an OB-GYN for cycles, diagnosis and fertility, and an endocrinologist for metabolic pages such as metformin, insulin resistance and GLP-1 medicines.
  • Later: a registered nutritionist-dietitian (RND) for food pages and the plate builder, and a dermatologist for acne, hair growth and hair loss.
  • Every reviewer page will show the reviewer's real name, specialty, PRC licence number, photo and the date of each review.
  • Reviewers commit to weight-neutral, guideline-based care.

What a reviewer checks

  1. Medical accuracy against the 2023 International Guideline and current Philippine practice.
  2. That recommendation numbers and quotes match the source.
  3. That nothing reads as a diagnosis, a prescription or personal dosing advice.
  4. Safety notes: red flags, contraception warnings for medicines like spironolactone and GLP-1s, and when to see a doctor soon.
  5. Tone: no weight shaming, no fear, no false promises.

The reviewer signs the page with a review date. We re-review when the guideline changes (the next update, which will adopt the name PMOS, is expected in 2028), when a reviewer requests it, or at least yearly.

Independence

Reviewers are paid per article for their time, not for any outcome. They do not choose our partners or our prices, and our partners have no say in medical content. Read how we make money.
